The US Treasury Dept made a historic announcement on March 24 as a part of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations. The department said US Prez Trump's signature would appear on future US paper currency along with the Treasury Secretary, Bessent. The announcement was made by the US Department of the Treasury in an official statement on its website. This is the first time in history of US that a sitting President’s signature will appear on US dollars. Secretary Bessent highlighted that the step marks a powerful way to recognise the historic achievements of the US and the POTUS. He also noted that under his leadership US has seen fiscal strength, economic growth and lasting dollar dominance. US Treasurer Brandon Beach took to ‘X’ and said the move symbolizes POTUS’ “leadership and dedication”. Previously, in Oct, he had shared drafts of a one-dollar coin of, featuring Trump as the insignia with 'Liberty' on one side. Meanwhile, Trump's handpicked Commission of Fine Arts is also reviewing a proposed USD 1 coin featuring Trump, CNN reported. As per CNN, the plans have raised legal questions because it is against US law to display the picture of a sitting president.
