The crypto market has been hit by massive selling pressure in the last 24 hours which has seen the majority of top assets fall into the red zone. Bitcoin failed to maintain its momentum and fell to USD 80,619 while Ethereum followed with a deeper correction at USD 2,283. Global volatility seems to be testing the mettle of digital asset holders around the world. Data from Coinmarketcap on May 13 2026 shows Bitcoin's market capitalization is still at USD 1.62 trillion even though it has shrunk 1.41 percent. Solana was one of the worst sufferers with a sharp decline of 2.94 percent to USD 94.69. Even meme coins like Dogecoin and speculative assets like HYPE were not spared from profit-taking by traders who started to panic. Amid the onslaught of red, only a handful of assets showed their fangs, such as Binance Coin (BNB), which edged up 0.36 percent to USD 666.27. ZEC also recorded a positive anomaly with an increase of 1.20 percent when the market was sluggish. Meanwhile, stablecoin groups such as USDT and USDC remain firm, maintaining parity at USD 1 as a temporary safe harbor. My analysis is simple, namely that the market is experiencing a phase of cleansing of adherents of herd behavior. Many of you panic just because of small corrections which are actually normal in a healthy market cycle. As a value investor, I see this not as the end of the world, but rather an opportunity to see which assets have strong fundamentals and which are just momentary trend capital. The conclusion is, don't let emotions rule your portfolio when looking at the red graph. Focus on long-term value and don't be part of the flock of sheep that panic when prices are on sale.
