A coin collector's dream is becoming a reality. The United States Mint is revealing new designs for America's 250th birthday. "The United States Mint is tasked with creating coins for the purpose of commerce," said U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis. "With this year, with America's semiquincentennial, or America 250, we are doing something truly historic." Every coin, from the penny to the half dollar, is getting a makeover for America's 250th birthday. There are five different designs for the quarter, which are being released in phases throughout this year.
