Jensen Huang demands, spend half of your salary on AI tokens! In this episode of Cash vs Coins, Miki Geike and Steffen Fuchs talk about a topic that is currently popping up everywhere but is hardly really understood, tokens. What is actually the difference between AI tokens and blockchain tokens? Why are OpenAI, Google and Anthropic suddenly talking about input and output tokens? And why exactly could these systems merge with blockchain networks in the long term? The two explain how AI models work today, why tokens in the AI world are primarily technical units of measurement and why blockchain tokens can do much more, from ownership to governance to digitized assets. It is also about the future of OpenAI, possible blockchain networks of large AI companies, tokenized computing power and the question of why AI could benefit from decentralization in the long term. An episode about technology, money, infrastructure and the next evolution of the Internet. 🔑 Five key points • AI tokens and blockchain tokens fulfill completely different functions • Input and output tokens measure the use of AI models • Blockchain tokens can digitally represent ownership, rights and values • Large AI companies could use their own blockchain systems in the future • AI and Web3 could merge more and more in the long term 💬 Quotes from the episode • "An AI token is equivalent to approximately 0.75 words." • “In the blockchain world, the token can reflect anything that has value in the real world.” • “OpenAI processes 6 billion tokens per minute, a 20x increase in two years.” • “Jensen Huang tells his employees to spend half their salaries on AI tokens.” • "The next logical step is to transfer values from centralized ledgers to decentralized ones." 00:00 Intro, Why suddenly everyone is talking about tokens 02:11 What are AI tokens actually? 04:38 Blockchain tokens simply explained 06:28 Why OpenAI doesn't use euros 08:10 What types of blockchain tokens exist 09:20 Can AI tokens live on blockchains at some point? 11:20 Could OpenAI launch its own token? 14:10 Why today's AI tokens are not yet decentralized 16:06 Will OpenAI eventually build on Ethereum or Solana? 18:15 Render, Bittensor and tokenized computing power 20:38 Why AI could become decentralized in the long term 22:15 The gigantic numbers behind AI token usage 25:10 Why Google also works with AI tokens 28:50 Jensen Huang, Why NVIDIA is relying heavily on AI 30:05 Conclusion, AI and blockchain are growing together 🔗 Follow us on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/86846532 Get our newsletter: https://21-oaks.com/#Kontakt All links to the podcast: https://linktr.ee/cashvscoins About the moderators: Michael Geike is an entrepreneur and blockchain specialist. He studied mathematics at Imperial College London. After working as a derivatives trader at JP Morgan for many years, he built teams of data scientists at Zalando to optimize AI-based payment systems. He has been working with distributed ledger technologies for over a decade and has been involved in the founding of several companies - including in 2013, when the first listed company in Europe was founded that exclusively dealt with cryptocurrencies and mining. Most recently, he was CEO of Advanced Blockchain AG, which he co-founded in 2017 and built up with 230 employees. Michael is one of the few early blockchain pioneers. He still owns Bitcoin from his early mining days in 2013 and Ether from the public sale in 2014, which he has not sold to date. Today he makes this long-term vision accessible to investors with fund products from 21 Oaks Capital GmbH and advises large corporations on the decentralization of their business models. Steffen Fuchs is a macro strategist and financial market expert with over 30 years of experience in the global capital markets. He started in Economics Research at UBS and held leading positions at UBS and Deutsche Bank, most recently as Managing Director for the institutional equity client business in Europe. Steffen has advised hundreds of board members, CIOs and fund managers and is considered someone who understands market dynamics at their core. His strength: recognizing long-term developments early - before they become visible in the prices. Self-employed entrepreneur and author since 2016. At 21 Oaks Capital, he is responsible for the macro strategy and places disruptions such as AI and blockchain in their economic context.
