Bricked Save File - Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

WARNING: Replicating this glitch will render your save file unusable unless you have created an earlier save state to revert to beforehand. The most dangerous Sparks of Hope glitch has been discovered. Following the steps in this video will cause the save file to open to a black screen whenever you load it. Only the overworld music will play. Activating a different save state from the main menu will deactivate the glitch, but your save file will be bricked if you have no save files to revert to. There may be more places to activate this glitch besides the method shown in the video. To understand how this glitch is possible, it is necessary to understand how the game saves. There is a discrepancy between when the game saves and when the game saves the last heroes' position, which I call the "warp point". It is possible for the game to set heroes back to a previous location after making other kinds of progress. I have utilized this mechanic in previous videos to access overworld locations earlier than intended. I travel to the other side of the map without using warps or fast travel. I grab the closest penguin and trigger the Red Coin Challenge. In order for the glitch to activate, the Red Coin Challenge must be completed right before throwing the penguin onto the ship. Waiting until after the Red Coin Challenge camera pan plays out will not work. Throwing the penguin onto the ship too early will not save the game during the cutscene. Additionally, you will not be able to skip the cutscene. You will know you got the right timing when the save icon appears as the cutscene begins. Before the cutscene ends, you will exit out of the game with the Home button. If everything is done correctly, the save file will load to a black screen. The warp point must be set far away from where the cutscene was triggered. Nearby warp points will play the cutscene normally. I did not test this exhaustively, but some examples of nearby warp points are the spaceship and the cave entrance initially blocked by Freeze In Your Tracks. Summary Of Steps: 1. Exit the library through the doors. (The checkpoint in front of the library, Green Pipe, and nearby Flamin' Stooge battles should also work with this step.) 2. Navigate to the other side of the map without using warps or fast travel. 3. Grab the penguin from the tree. 4. Start the Red Coin Challenge. At the end, throw the penguin right after collecting the final red coin. 5. Notice the save indicator appearing as the cutscene begins. If it is there, exit out through the Home Menu before the cutscene ends. The save file will be unusable without a previous save state at this point.
