I only did this one so I could beat the whole Matilda series. The first level was very meh. The level had some quality in terms of how it looked, especially for its time, but it just had very nothing-burger gameplay. It just kinda exists. This one however, is easily the worst in the series. I have now beaten Matilda The Machine and yes, I don’t think it’s the worst in the series. This one is! This is a strong contender for the worst hard demon. I don’t care how consistent it eventually got, all of it is abhorrently made. The use of move triggers is trash, as usual from a 2.0 level. Not only that, but there’s just so many other problems that make this one of the worst levels. I hate the first robot. The platform at 4% is buggy and the mini robot is horrible. The first ship is so non-fluid. The use of teleportals is terrible, the way it decides to use invisible gravity portals is a big red flag, and the platforms just bounce around and make it even more annoying. Now we get to the horrible duals. I was able to gain a consistent muscle memory to not find this unbearable, but it’s still extremely unnatural with the timings and is a pain to learn. Then another horrible ship that has these stupid invisible speed portals that we all dread. Why are we doing this? Just keep at a fast pace, stop trying to change it up! And it’s awkwardly built in general. Then you have an obnoxious robot that uses platforms that pop out. I’ll give credit where it’s due though. It’s nice that he indicated in colors which platforms are programmed to launch you and which are stable. And using one of them for a coin is a somewhat clever idea. It still plays poorly though. I don’t like the last jump. And it’s also ruined by this buggy method of doing a small jump into the gravity portal at 54. It barely works half the time. The wave is actually not horrible. Still pretty bad because it uses these annoying movements that troll you in how you have to time your inputs, but memorizing the route will probably help you become slightly more efficient. That’s probably the most enjoyable part of the level. Even then it’s not saying much. And then we have the ufo, which may as well be the worst part. I dread pretty much everything in this part. There’s no skill, it’s just…. pray! Everything is so awkward with how they are placed. No sync anywhere, barely a consistent click pattern, just pure luck all around. The level is filled to the brim with chokepoints everywhere, random parts that don’t flow well, horrible pacing that matches next to nothing with the music, zero sync in the level, and just a pure conglomeration of gameplay parts that only exist to be annoying. Even the deco is horrible. The first ship has an actual custom background that looks pretty decent for its time and I like these Star-shaped blades that orbit around their axis. Those are the only good parts of this level. Everything just looks trash. The colors are bad, the block designs are terrible, all the movements are obviously ugly and used horribly, the wave looks flat out unfinished and uses rainbow textures terribly, it’s just another example of how bad 2.0 levels look in the early years. I have nothing more to say, it’s one of the worst hard demons in the game and I hate it a lot. I strongly advise avoiding this unless you somehow want to do the Matilda series.
